Note that StartMail Personal is cheaper at $59.88, but it permits exactly one custom domain, so it is not a like-for-like against unlimited domains.

Who should pick what
Pick StartMail
Anyone who wants encrypted mail as a default rather than a configuration, or who needs to be outside US jurisdiction. Also anyone with one domain and one mailbox who values the privacy posture — Personal at $59.88 is a fair price for what it is.
Pick JustEmails
Anyone holding several domains, or adding mailboxes for roles rather than people. Per-seat pricing punishes exactly that shape, and it is the shape a portfolio owner has.
The honest take
We do not do encryption and we are not in the Netherlands. If either of those is the reason you are shopping, we are the wrong answer and the price gap is irrelevant. StartMail also has a clearer privacy story than we do: we are a US-hosted mail provider and we are not going to dress that up.
Common questions
Is StartMail Personal not the fairer comparison, since it is cheaper?
It is the tier most people land on, which is why we show it — but it allows one custom domain. Comparing a one-domain plan to unlimited domains would flatter us by comparing a different product, so Business is the row we quote and Personal is shown next to it.
Do you offer PGP?
No. Mail is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest on our storage, but there is no end-to-end encryption and no key management. If you need PGP, StartMail does it properly.
What happens to my aliases if I move?
Aliases carry over as normal aliases. What does not carry is StartMail’s disposable-alias workflow, where a throwaway address is generated per signup and burned later. We have aliases; we do not have that lifecycle around them.
Where is my mail actually stored?
On our own infrastructure in the United States, not a reseller’s. That is a real difference from StartMail and it cuts against us for anyone whose threat model includes US legal process.
