Porkbun sells email as an add-on to a single domain, priced per domain. Ours is priced per account, so the two diverge the moment a second domain needs a real mailbox: theirs doubles, ours does not move.

Porkbun Email is $36 a year and covers one domain with one mailbox plus forwarding addresses, so the two are closest at exactly one domain and diverge immediately after: two domains is $72, five is $180, ten is $360, while ours stays $49. That is the whole shape of it — their email is priced per domain and ours is priced per account. Porkbun is a well-liked registrar and their free forwarding is the right answer for a parked domain that only needs to reach an inbox you already have. Deliverability when your registrar also runs your mail
Porkbun handles authentication properly, and for a single domain with a single mailbox there is no deliverability argument to make against them. At that shape both services authenticate, both land, and the choice is about price and convenience rather than inbox placement.
The difference appears with the second and third domain. Each Porkbun Email subscription is its own domain with its own records to publish and keep correct, and nothing watches them afterwards. Across ten domains that is ten sets of DNS to get right and ten chances for one to break quietly, because a broken DKIM record does not stop mail leaving — it stops it arriving.
JustEmails generates MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC per domain from one account token, verifies them, re-checks every six hours, and tells you which domain drifted rather than leaving you to notice. The verification value is identical on every domain you own, so publishing records across a portfolio is one templated pass rather than a per-domain lookup.
Forwarding is the other real distinction. A forwarded address delivers into an inbox you already have but cannot send from that address without configuring a separate provider, and forwarded mail carries the original sender's authentication — which is why forwarding into Gmail sometimes fails SPF in ways that are genuinely hard to debug. A real mailbox on the domain avoids the whole class of problem.

So the question is not which is cheaper today — it is how many domains you expect to own in two years. If the answer is genuinely one, Porkbun is the simpler purchase. If it is three, the crossover has already happened.
There is a second threshold beyond price. Porkbun Email gives one primary mailbox plus forwarding addresses; if you need several real mailboxes on the same domain that people can send from, that is a different product rather than a larger plan.
Common questions
Porkbun is cheaper. Why would I switch?
For one domain, you should not. The reason to switch is the second domain: their email is billed per domain, so each new one adds $36 while ours adds nothing. If a second domain is hypothetical, stay where you are.
What about Porkbun’s free email forwarding?
It is a good product for what it is and we would not talk anyone out of it. It forwards to an inbox you already have; there is no mailbox, so you cannot send from the address without configuring another provider. If receiving is all you need, free is hard to beat.
Porkbun resells Proton Mail — is that the same comparison?
No, and we deliberately do not compare against it. That is Proton’s product sold through Porkbun, at Proton’s pricing and with Proton’s privacy model. Comparing our price to it would be quoting a third party’s numbers under Porkbun’s name.
Do I have to move my domain registration to use JustEmails?
No. Leave domains registered wherever they are, including Porkbun. We only need the DNS records, and those are generated and checked for you per domain.
